Conservation and Birds

Conservation of wild bird habitat is critically important. Many national and International organizations are helping with this vital goal.

You can help too. These organizations need your support to carry on their goals.

At the local level, you can work with your local Audubon Chapter to make sure local planning commissioners are following existing conservation laws when approving new construction.

Another way that you can help preserve a disappearing but valuable natural resource -- wetlands, is by buying Federal Duck Stamps at your local post office. Money from sales of these stamps is used to protect wetlands.

Here are the major Conservation Organizations concerned with preserving bird habitat:

Partners in Flight
Partners In Flight

The central premise of Partners In Flight has been that the resources of public and private organizations in North and South America must be combined, coordinated, and increased in order to achieve success in conserving bird populations in this hemisphere.

Partners In Flight is a cooperative effort involving partnerships among federal, state and local government agencies, philanthropic foundations, professional organizations, conservation groups, industry, the academic community, and private individuals. Currently partners include 16 federal agencies, 40 non-government organizations, over 60 state and provincial fish and wildlife agencies, numerous universities, and the forest industry, and the list is growing daily
